The
picture (that isn’t there)
David Brown
It was a picture
of their wedding day
all gone now
and all that remains
is a ghostly dust and
cobweb frame
around a pale patch
in the nicotine stain
No one could remember
and no one cared
who they were
or what they shared
and one day, someday
we could be the pair
holding hands in the picture
that isn’t there
So hold me
tighter than a fist
feel the blood
pumping through our wrists
feel the fear
but take the risk
because now
is all there is |
