Further along
the road
David Brown
Don’t know where I’m going, only thing I know
is
I’m further along the road
I’m progressing slowly; it’s all the past I’m
towing
further along the road
Further down the road I look for hidden meaning
where I’ve been, I see it all receding
but there’s still so far to go - further along the
road
I feel my brain unravel, every mile I travel
further along the road
Will I pay a price for peace and fall from the precipice?
Further along the road
Further down the road the signposts are confusing
I don’t know if I’m winning or I’m losing
and will I grow enough to know? Further along the road
Will you be my companion? Have the strength to hold on?
Further along the road
Will you still believe in me or will you be leavin’ me?
Further along the road
Further down the road just like an old road movie
it’s you and me, the devil and the deep blue sea
as we watch the plot unfold - further along the road
Billboards scream from either side - Buy this and change your
life
but logo on the Emperor’s clothes
are just a heavy toll on a no-through road
Further down the road you can turn off port and starboard
but you know the only way is forward
If you want to crack the code - further along the road
Will I hit the headlines or be a rabbit in the headlights?
Further along the road
Will I hit the road Jack, like Brother Ray or Kerouac?
Further along the road
Further down the road it all becomes slow motion
go with the flow that takes you to that ocean
where all will be resolved - further along the road
