That and The Other
David Brown
Every generation thinks that they invented it
Maybe that’s why they seem so intent on it
Kids are the only ones allowed to have fun
But youth has always been wasted on the young
But before you pull that face like a fairground mirror
Try to remember it’s the reason that you’re here
Your father and your mother do that and the other
He’s a husband; she’s a wife
Your father and your mother do that and the other
Face it - it’s a fact of life
There’s never been a more embarrassing taboo
Worse than a nipple ring or a butt tattoo
But we’re not here just to work and procreate
Who said desire had to have a use-by date
And one day you’ll be as old as mum and dad
And it could be the best time you ever had
Your father and your mother do that and the other
It’s really nothing new
Your father and your mother do that and the other
And they enjoy it too
I don’t know why you find the idea sad and weird
It’s not like they’re swinging from the chandelier
But with champagne before a roaring fire
Maybe no longer on the tumble dryer
But in a plush hotel or in a camper van
Your parents still do it because they can
Your father and your mother do that and the other
But you’re still their favourite
Your father and your mother do that and the other
Get over it |
