Often referred to as the Bonnie Raitt of Bishopston, Hilary met Dave Lewis whilst singing in the now defunct Bristol-based a cappella group Naked Voices. Their own voices complemented each other so well that they decided to perform as a duo and it wasn’t long before Hilary found herself doing guest studio sessions for early Shrinks albums.

Her honeyed harmonies sounded so good on record that she joined the band on the ‘never ending north Bristol tour’ doing her own special take on some Lucinda Williams’ covers and duets with the two Daves.

For the 2009 album Modern Sounds of Cotham and Westbury, David Brown wrote Daddy’s Arm’s especially for Hilary and her emotionally intense delivery of the song is always a high point of any Shrinks live gig.
